The Mesa Gateway AREA Office was
established by the Mesa Council in 2001.
Mesa’s long-term plan for the AREA is to establish a
thriving center for business, employment, aviation,
education, and technology– providing employment for
100,000 people by 2035.
The Phoenix-Mesa Gateway AREA is comprised of 20,700 +/-
acres. The PMG is located in southeast Mesa in
Council District 6. Within the PMG boundary there is
also a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) and a Military Reuse
Zone (MRZ).
Currently, approximately 90 businesses,
4,600 employees and 7,500 students are in the PMG
Area. This
area has an annual economic impact to the community
of over $420 million dollars.
The Gateway staff supports and coordinates the
development efforts for properties located in the
Gateway Area in partnership with: Williams Gateway
Airport Authority; Williams Education, Research and
Training Campus; Mesa’s Office of Economic
Development and the surrounding businesses and
properties in Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler and Queen
