Recycling Program Updates

The Solid Waste Management Department once again congratulates Mesa residents for doing a GREAT JOB with their recycling efforts!

Appliance Recycling Program - over 177 tons of material were recycled in FY 06/07.
Blue Barrel Program - 34,728 tons of material were recycled in FY 06/07.
Christmas Tree Recycling Program - during the 2007-2008 season, 5,193 trees were diverted from the landfill to be used as mulch and compost.
Green Waste Barrel Program - diverted 17,827 tons of green waste material from the landfill in FY 06/07. All of the diverted green waste material is mulched and composted.
Multi-Family Recycling Program (apartment) - the City of Mesa currently has recycling containers at 94 multi-family complexes, servicing over 20,900 units.
