Volunteer Requirements

Individuals interested in donating their time to the City must complete and sign a Volunteer Application Form. The recommended minimum commitment is usually four hours per week and can be flexible depending on the circumstances (i.e. winter visitor, student). The maximum commitment is 40 hours per week.

The volunteer who has completed and signed a Volunteer Application and has a Volunteer Job Description on file with Personnel is covered by the City Worker’s Compensation program as per City Resolution No. 6491. If injured on the job, the basis for computing compensation is outlined under A.R.S. § 23-901.06. The department also may wish to utilize a Volunteer Agreement.

Depending on the nature of the assignment (i.e. handling money, security issues), the department will determine the need to complete a background check. This process may include fingerprinting.
