Utility Services

The Utility Services Section is responsible for the administration and operation of emergency first response for the natural gas and water distribution system for the City of Mesa Utilities Department. It provides 24 hour service to the citizens and customers of Mesa and its infrastructure. Other key primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
 
Natural Gas Water/Wastewater
  • Odor Complaints*
  • Blowing gas/Ruptured gas lines*
  • Gas leak Investigations*
  • Gas Safety Checks*
  • Gas Appliance troubleshooting*
  • Gas restoration and shut-offs
  • Pilot Lighting
  • Gas Meter Installation and Removal
  • All water related customer complaints*
  • Water leaks city and customer side*
  • Water main breaks*
  • Water quality calls*
  • Water meter installation and removal
  • Water restoration and shut-offs*
  • Irrigation problems and flooding*
  • Sewer odor calls*
* Requires Emergency service response
 
Electric
  • Exchange defective and aged (CMTP) electric meters
  • Assist with turn-on and turn-off service

In addition to duties listed above, The Utility Service Section provides public education to its customers and citizens of Mesa for the City's water and gas infrastructure incorporating the key goals of protecting life, property, and the environment. We provide public safety related information on site for new and existing customers. Examine high utility bill concerns and conduct usage evaluations for gas and water usage.

Utility Service Field Specialists install and maintain residential and small commercial water and gas meters, this includes defective or non-operational meters and meters which are in need of exchanging and upgrading due to their past life expectancy. Utility Service meter maintenance programs exchange aged water, gas, and electric meters as part of a (CMTP) change meter test program in ensuring accurate metering of the commodity.

The City of Mesa Utility Services Section provides service to its 460,000 citizens encompassing over 131 square miles in Mesa proper including serving over 10,000 gas customers in the Magma gas system. Providing service with Customer Satisfaction in mind. Working together to provide quality service to internal and external customers.
