Student Safety Statements
Each
school year, City of Mesa Utilities personnel visit
elementary schools within Mesa's natural gas service
territory to teach students about natural gas and
natural gas safety. The program is geared to
fifth-grade students and covers a variety of natural
gas topics such as: where gas comes from, its
properties, characteristics, who to contact in an
emergency, and what to do if you smell gas.
At the end of each presentation, students are asked
to draw a picture of something they learned during
the presentation. Drawings are selected and
are used for various outreach methods (website,
local papers, etc.).
