2008 San Tan Area Family
Safety Day

The Pinal County Sheriff's
Department, the Community Block Watch Association,
Southeast Valley Optimist Club, and Coolidge Unified
School District will be sponsoring a Family Safety
Day for residents of Queen Creek on Saturday,
October 25th.
The community of San Tan Heights will be
hosting this free event at Mountain Vista Elementary School which is
located at 33622 Mountain Vista Blvd. The event will take
place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The Gas Division will be on hand providing
information on natural gas and natural gas safety information.
2008 Phoenix Metro Damage
Prevention Seminars

Underground Utilities are
everywhere. Each year, local Utility owners in
partnership with the Arizona Blue Stake Center sponsor free Damage
Prevention Seminars for local contractors. The
seminars cover the Underground Facilities law and
safe digging practices.
Throughout the year, seminars are conducted in
Phoenix, Northern Arizona, and Southern Arizona. For more

Roundin Out the Red Mountain

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT)
and the City of Mesa will host "Roundin' Out the Red
Mountain", a freeway opening event from 5 p.m. to 8
p.m. on Tuesday, July 15 to celebrate completion of
Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway). The completion of
this final segment between Power Road and University
Drive in Mesa represents an important milestone in
transportation improvements in the Valley including
the completion of the Red Mountain Freeway, the
conclusion of Proposition 300 projects and the
successful partnership between taxpayers and ADOT
spanning more than 20 years.
City Hall at the Mall

This year, the City of Mesa will sponsor two City
Hall at the Mall events. Last year's City Hall at the
Mall events drew in around 1,100 mall goers.
The City Hall at the Mall events are a
unique way to bring
City government directly to residents.
The Utilities Department along with several
City of Mesa departments, including Parks,
Recreation and Commercial Facilities; Library;
Neighborhood Services and Transportation will have
displays and information set up in the center court
area. Mesa Police and Mesa Fire will have several
displays in the mall parking lot.
This year's events are scheduled as follows:
April 12th - Fiesta Mall 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
October 25th - Superstition Springs 10:00 a.m. to
3:00 p.m.
National Preparedness Day

Mesa's Police Department will again host a
National Preparedness Day that will take place on
Saturday, September 27th. Last year's event
took place at the Bass Pro Shop and drew in around 500
people. This event is still
being planned, so look for upcoming information.
Queen Creek's Annual
Winterfest 2007 Event
Queen Creek's
Annual Winterfest 2007 Event was rescheduled
due to weather conditions. Winterfest took
place in February and was held in Johnson Ranch
at Walker Butte Elementary School. This family event was
fun for all with games and entertainment, arts/crafts,
and lots of good food. The City of
Mesa's Gas Division was on hand giving out natural
gas safety information.
The 2008 event will take place in
December.
Gas Division takes gas
safety message on the road to local schools 
The Gas Division is once again gearing up for
another year of natural gas safety presentations to
local schools. Each year the Gas Division
visits various schools within the City's natural gas
service territory visiting about 750 fifth-grade
students to promote natural gas safety. Information
covered during the presentations include where gas
comes from, its properties and characteristics, who
to contact in an emergency, and what to do if you
smell gas.
