Position Bait vehicles to help combat
auto theft
You've seen them on TV -- the hapless criminal who breaks into a law
enforcement bait vehicle and drives off, not realizing they're about to be
apprehended! Would you like to be part of this effective method for stopping
thieves in their tracks? As a Bait Vehicle Assistant volunteer,
detectives will be grateful for your help in driving bait vehicles to and from
scheduled locations, as well as maintaining them. Think of the special pride you will be able to take when
you next watch this unfold on TV, knowing that you have personally helped to
reduce auto theft in our community.
Desired Skills: Experience in driving a variety of vehicles, including
trucks and those with standard transmissions; mechanical skills, including
experience with reading wiring diagrams (including a background/understanding of
stereo/alarm systems), installing electrical equipment( wiring, relays, and
switches), splicing and soldering wires/harnesses, and general vehicle
maintenance (including checking fluids and tires); ability to follow verbal and
written instructions.
Special Requirement: Must possess a valid driver's license.
Hours Needed: Tuesdays, from 9:00 a.m. to noon for moving
vehicles; a bonus would be your availability for three to four hours per week to
transport vehicles for service, but not required.
