Partner with your dog to help victims
When children are victims of crimes such as molestation and
abuse, the necessary investigative process can
add further trauma to what they have already been through. If you are a dog
owner and would enjoy incorporating your dog in a unique way to help ease the
process for these children (and other victims), you may want to become a C.A.F.V.
ABC Delta Pet Partner at our
Center Against Family
Violence. Volunteers in this capacity and their dog must successfully
complete a training course at Animals Benefit Club (ABC) Delta Pet Partners in
Phoenix in order to be considered for this position. (For more details about the
training, please contact ABC Delta Pet Partners at 602-971-0839.) Once the
volunteer and dog are trained, they can be on call for a shift of their choice
to come to the Center as needed so that victims can benefit from the soothing
interaction with their dog.
Desired Skills: Pleasant demeanor; ability to maintain strict
confidentiality; ability to interact well with victims of different ages and
personality types; reliable adherence to their selected shift.
Special Requirement: Volunteer and their dog must be certified by
ABC Delta Pet Partners.
Hours Needed: Days and times negotiable with Center Against
Family Violence; need a minimum commitment of eight hours of being on call
per month.
