Mesa Police Department Superstition Patrol District Goals
The Superstition District has various crime reduction goals, which are consistent
throughout the Mesa Police Department.
Detectives from various units work together to
reduce criminal activity and apprehend outstanding
suspects involved in various crimes. The Mesa Police Department has instituted a
citywide goal to reduce residential and commercial
burglaries; reduce vehicle burglaries, auto thefts;
and to reduce traffic violations and deaths. The
Superstition Patrol Officers, working in conjunction
with the other patrol districts are committed to
reducing the number of automobile collisions at
targeted intersections. To accomplish this, they are
participating in Operation Drive & Arrive, a
project intended to reduce injury and fatal
accidents by 25 percent. To accomplish this goal,
the strategies include public education, selective
traffic enforcement, photo radar, implementation of
red light/intersection speed cameras, and an
increased focus on habitual traffic offenders.
Officers are utilizing extra patrol at targeted
intersections and using a "zero tolerance"
enforcement policy for traffic violations at these
locations.
