Mesa Police Department 2002 Annual Report

Patrol Operations Bureau
Patrol Operations consists of four patrol
districts and the Patrol Resources Division.
Within each district is a
Community
Action Team (CAT) and a
Bike
Unit, both of which have aided
tremendously in focusing on Community-Oriented
Policing (COP). COP is the philosophy of
reducing crime by getting community residents
and businesses involved with crime prevention
and making them more aware of suspicious
activities.
391,314 Calls for Service in 2002
1,072 Average Calls for Service/day
3.6 minutes response time for E-Calls
30,807 Serious Crimes (Part 1) in 2002 |
The Community Action Team and the
Bicycle Squad work in partnership on
problem-oriented policing projects to resolve
specific problems in district neighborhoods.
The Bike Units not only patrol targeted areas
of the district, but some also serve as
School
Resource Officers (SROs) to area schools
where they assist in school security and
instructional activities. [News
