Joint effort leads to arrest of homicide suspect
On June 9, 2008 at 10:30 p.m., the Mesa Police
Department received a call from a person stating
they located their deceased friend inside his east
Mesa residence at 11428 E. Queensborough Avenue.
Inside the residence, officers located a deceased
male with signs of trauma. The victim was later
identified as 30-year-old Travis Alexander of Mesa.
While awaiting the Maricopa County Office of the
Medical Examiner's official determination that this
was a homicide, detectives continued their
investigation. This led to the July 15, 2008 arrest
of 28-year-old Jodi Arias in Yreka, California by
Mesa Police Homicide detectives and the Siskiyou
County Sheriff's Office on a first degree murder
warrant. The investigation has revealed that Jodi
Arias and Travis Alexander were involved in a prior
relationship.
Mesa Police Detectives and Siskiyou County
Sheriff's deputies conducted multiple search
warrants in Yreka, California. Jodi Areas was booked
into Siskiyou County jail and is awaiting
extradition proceedings.
