Shado is a brown and black Belgian Malinois and was born in November 1999.  He has been with the department since October 31, 2002.

The money to purchase him was donated by Milkbone and an Arizona law enforcement charity called "The 999 Foundation."  He was named by Michael Hinkle from Porter Elementary School in Mesa during a "Name the Dog" contest sponsored by Milkbone.

Shado eats 6 cups of Nutromax after work and his favorite "off duty" activity is hanging around with his mentor, retired PSD Blacky.
