Mesa Police Department K9 Unit - Lyndsay
Lyndsay was born June 2, 2001 and is a female Belgian Malinois
from Holland.
She has a PH-1 title from KNVP (the Royal Dutch Police Dog Association).
Officer Leitz had the opportunity to go to Holland in July of 2003. Ofc. Leitz
selected K9 Lyndsay during this trip.
K9 Lyndsay is trained in patrol work involving building searches, area
searches, high risk vehicle stops and assisting SWAT during tactical
deployments. She is also trained in explosive detection. K9 Lyndsay has worked
several of the major sporting events in the Valley, including the Insight Bowl,
Fiesta Bowl, BCS Championship games, and some of the Phoenix Cardinal games.
K9 Lyndsay eats approximately 2-1/2 cups of dog
food a day. At home, K9 Lyndsay likes laying around
the house and just being a dog.
