Mesa Police Department
Gang Unit
The Mesa Police Department Gang Units are comprised of a Police Investigator
at Headquarters and a squad of Street Crimes Detectives at each of the four districts. The
Detectives are responsible for monitoring gang activity in each of their
respective Districts in the City of Mesa.
They
investigate gang motivated and gang related crimes and liaison with other police
agencies to track gang offenders' activities. The City of Mesa also has a Gang
Prevention Specialist and a Youth Intervention Specialist who participate in some proactive
intervention strategies.
Reports regarding gang activity can be made to the Mesa Police Department 24
hours a day. The City of Mesa Street Maintenance unit also offers a valuable service to citizens to help
eradicate graffiti in neighborhoods. The graffiti hotline is available for people
who would like to report graffiti in their neighborhoods. In most cases, this
graffiti will be painted over by the City after a report has been made.
