Gas Coupon Scam
A resident received a call from someone claiming to be with
Chevron/Texaco offering $200 in free gas coupons. The caller instructed the
resident to write a check to give to the UPS man when the gas coupons were
delivered. The caller also asked for the name of the resident's bank.
Fortunately the resident refused to give the caller any information and hung up.
When Chevron/Texaco was contacted they verified they were not offering free gas
coupons. Once again, do not give personal information over the telephone unless
you initiate the call.
