Mesa Police Department Dobson Patrol District
Community
Action Team (CAT)
The
Dobson Patrol Division Community Action Team (CAT) is committed to improving the
quality of life for our citizens that live within our district.
The Dobson CAT unit consists of seven officers and one sergeant.
Each officer has an assigned beat or area to patrol. Our district has a unique blend of business and residential
areas that offer challenges and opportunities for the CAT unit.
It is our goal to work with citizens in a partnership to resolve
problems.
Because of this commitment, the CAT unit has taken a proactive direction.
In addition to working the traditional problem-oriented policing projects
within the district, the CAT unit is attacking crime problems of the division by
targeting the three most frequent committed crimes: theft, stolen vehicles, and
burglaries. The CAT unit has become
proactive toward enforcement of these crimes and has been able to establish
partnerships to combat these crimes.
As a result, our recovery rate of stolen vehicles has risen, and we have
arrested several subjects for theft(s). Due
to our large population and density issues for the district, traffic has always
been a concern for our citizens. Because
of these traffic concerns the Dobson CAT unit is committed to partnering with
the Mesa Police Traffic Division and the
citizens of the Dobson District. The
CAT unit is also an active partner of the departments
Burglary Reduction Program, which identifies a “top ten” list of suspects who
have shown a propensity to commit burglary.
