Do you have a boat, trailer or quad?

Thefts of these items are being seen across the Valley. Protect your recreational equipment by parking in secured areas. Record and store the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) for each and photograph them. Engrave your property with your driver's license number as an additional identifier. For more information on securing your property and Operation Identification, please visit our Literature page. You may also call 480-644-2300, option 5, to be referred to your crime prevention officer.

Animal Control now part of Code Compliance

As of July 1, Animal Control has been relocated to Code Compliance and is no longer part of the Police Department. You may still call the police non-emergency number at 480-644-2211 to report any animal-related activity.

Fraud Alert!

Over the past few weeks, a male subject has been calling older adults in Mesa and telling them to put money or their debit card in their mailbox for him to pick up as part of a bank investigation. We have several victims thus far in all areas of the city. If you have been contacted by this person, please report it to the police by calling 480-644-2211.

Free back- to-school immunizations

The Maricopa County Department of Public Health will be providing free immunizations needed for those children entering 6th grade on Saturday, August 2 from 9 am to 2:30 pm.  Download flyer.

Citizen Police Academy

Have you ever wanted to know about the inner workings of the police department?  Sign up for the next Citizen Police Academy and learn about many units within the department.  The next class runs from September 24 through November on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., and one Saturday on October 11 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  For more information or to download an application visit www.cityofmesa.org/police/training/cpacademy.aspx.

Protect Your Gas

In some areas, rising gas prices are resulting increased gas thefts and siphoning from vehicles. These steps will help decrease your chances of becoming a victim:

  • Park in a  locked garage, if possible
  • Consider purchasing a locking gas cap
  • Park where your vehicle can be seen by others
  • Make sure doors and windows are closed and locked
  • Do not leave anything of value in your vehicle
  • AND do not leave children or pets unattended in your vehicle, even for a short period of time

Vehicle Burglary Suspects

On Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at 03:39 a.m., two Hispanic males were involved in breaking into a vehicle in the area of 900 W 9th Street in Mesa. Suspect #1 (see photo, left) is seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, light colored pants, and is 16-19 years old. Suspect two (see photo, right) is seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and is 16-19 years old. If anyone has information on these suspects or the vehicle burglary, please contact the Mesa Police Department at 480-644-2211.  View video (Windows Media Player).

Missing Adult

photo of missing adult Jennifer PetersJennifer Marie Peters, 23, has been missing from the Country Club & McKellips area since June 6, 2007. She left her residence in the early morning hours. Jennifer is Schizophrenic and has a history of attempted suicide. She is Native American/Caucasian with a light complexion. Last seen wearing a pint scoop neck t-shirt, navy blue sweat pants and flip-flops. She is 5' 7" tall, 220 lbs. with highlighted brown hair and brown eyes. She wears glasses.  She is on medication, but has not been taking it. She has nothing with her, may try to harm herself and is not known to seek medical help.
