Neighborhood Registration Program

The Neighborhood Registration Program is our means of identifying Mesa’s neighborhoods and enhancing communication with them. Once registered, neighborhoods are eligible to receive benefits and services designed to support and recognize neighborhood residents in their activities.

The Mesa City Council has identified as one of its priorities to have all neighbors represented by neighborhood organizations. A neighborhood organization is a group of people organized for the purpose of considering and acting upon issues affecting the quality of life in their neighborhood.

What is a registered neighborhood?

A registered neighborhood is a neighborhood which has identified a resident neighbor as a “primary contact,” two to ten additional neighbors as “active neighbors,” and has completed the City’s registration form.  Newly registered neighborhoods will receive a registered neighborhood notebook with information, resources, and neighborhood organizing techniques.  A map of the neighborhood will also be created and included in the registration notebook.

Registered neighborhoods range in size from several blocks to several square miles. We have registered individual and combined block watches, newly-developing as well as existing neighborhood organizations, and formal homeowners associations.

What are the benefits of registering my neighborhood?

The Neighborhood Outreach Office provides neighborhoods with a resource notebook that includes valuable information on City and community programs and services, helpful hints on organizing effectively, and a detailed map of the neighborhood. We also e-mail active neighbors the Neighborhood Services Department’s newsletter,
Across the Back Fence.

  • The following benefits are also available to registered neighborhoods:

  • Eligibility for the City’s Spirit of Mesa Neighborhood Awards program.

  • Notification from developers interested in obtaining input on projects

  • planned for their area.

  • Notification about neighborhood enhancement classes presented by the Leadership Centre.

How do I register my neighborhood?

In order to register your neighborhood, you and other nearby residents should sit down together and complete a registration form that covers such information as neighborhood name, boundaries, features, history, and active neighbors. For more information concerning the Neighborhood Registration Program, please contact a Neighborhood Outreach Coordinator who supports your area of the city at 480-644-5700.
