Resource Management maintains an up-to-date
full-service supply depot, using a bar code
inventory tracking system, to provide the
department's 17 fire stations with household
furnishings and station supplies.
Also in the warehouse inventory are:
- All of the suppression equipment, including
hoses, nozzles, extrication equipment, and
tools.
- A stock of emergency medical service (EMS)
supplies and equipment, including a full catalog
of equipment for the EMS trainers.
- Personal protective equipment for
suppression personnel, including gloves, boots,
helmets, and some turnouts.
- Parts and supplies for the repair of fire
department vehicles.
- Storing and distribution of all fire
extinguishers for City buildings.
The Supply Room personnel are available on a
24-hour basis to deliver supplies for emergency
relief of citizens following major incidents
including floods, micro-bursts, tornados, and
multi-dwelling fires. They maintain containers
packed with hammers, nails, tarps, plastic sheeting,
and plywood for containment. Commercial vacuums are
also supplied for water extraction. Rehab supplies
are often supplied to fire fighters on major scenes
requiring extended stays.
