Mesa Fire Prevention

Life safety and property protection are the primary goals of the Mesa Fire Prevention Division.

The Mesa Fire Prevention Division consists of one investigator supervisor, two fire investigators, one inspector supervisor, one fire protection engineer, four inspectors, two fire prevention assistants, a program assistant, and two administrative support assistants.  Chief Rich Kochanski is our Fire Marshal and Brady Leffler is the Community Services Division Chief. 

The Mesa Fire Prevention Division performs inspections of  the City of Mesa's businesses to assist business owners in the elimination of hazards to create and maintain a safe workplace.  In addition, our fire investigators are frequently called out to determine the cause of fires in Mesa, and also to assist in fire investigations in the Cities of Gilbert and Apache Junction.

The Fire Prevention Division is responsible for enforcing adopted codes and ordinances, conducting fire investigations, issuance of various permits such as burning, blasting, barbeque permits, follow-up on citizen complaints regarding possible fire hazards, and maintenance of fire records for businesses in the City of Mesa.
