The following City of Mesa Capital Improvement Projects are
upcoming and will be underway in the near future. These projects involve the
widening of our existing arterial street system; intersection improvements;
adding new roadways; landscaping within public right-of-way; street lighting and
traffic signal system improvements.
Dobson Road
and Guadalupe Road Intersection Improvements
(Project No. 01-370-001)

The City of Mesa is proposing
improvements to the intersection of Dobson Road
and Guadalupe Road. The project will widen
Dobson Road at the intersection to provide six
through lanes, (3 each direction), dual left
turn lanes in each direction, and a dedicated
right turn lane for southbound Dobson Road.
The project will also widen Guadalupe Road at
the intersection to provide dual left turn lanes
in each direction, while
maintaining the four existing lanes, (2 each
direction). Other improvements include new
street lights, traffic signals and landscaping.
A bus pullout and bus shelter will be added to
Dobson Road north of Guadalupe Road.
Construction will begin in 2010. The
source of funding for this project is from the
Regional Transportation Plan funds (Proposition
400) and City of Mesa sales tax revenue.

Gilbert
Road and University Drive Intersection Improvements
(Project No. 01-373-001)

The City of Mesa is proposing
improvements to the intersection of Gilbert Road
and University Drive. The project will
widen both University Drive and Gilbert Road to
six lanes (3 in each direction) at the
intersection, and will include raised landscaped
and flush medians on Gilbert Road, dual left
turn lanes at the intersection, new street
lights, traffic signals and landscaping.
Construction will begin in 2009.
University
Drive and Country Club Drive Intersection
Improvements (Project No. 01-397-001)

The City of Mesa is proposing
improvements to the intersection of Country Club
Drive and University Drive. The project
will widen University Drive to six lanes (3 in
each direction) at the intersection, and will
include new street lights, traffic signals and
landscaping. A bus shelter will be added
to Country Club Drive north of University Drive
no other improvements are planned for Country
Club Drive. Construction will begin in
2010. The source of funding for this
project is from the Regional Transportation Plan
funds (Proposition 400) and City of Mesa sales

The City of Mesa is proposing
roadway improvements to segments of Broadway
Road between Dobson Road and Country Club Drive.
Improvements may include additional travel
lanes, bus pullouts, bus shelters, additional
right turn lanes, streetlights and traffic
upgrades. Construction will begin in 2010.

Power Road Improvements, Galveston Road
to the East Maricopa Floodway (Project No. 04-843-001)

The City of Mesa, Town of
Gilbert and Maricopa County Department of
Transportation (MCDOT) are proposing
improvements to Power Road from south of
Guadalupe Road to Galveston Road (South of Ray
Road). The project will widen Power Road
to six lanes (3 in each direction) with a raised
landscaped median and dual left turn lanes at
the arterial intersections. Other
improvements include new street lights, traffic
signals, sidewalk and landscaping along the
corridor. Construction will begin in 2010.

Greenfield
Road Improvements, Baseline Road to Southern Avenue
(Project No. 04-844-001)

The City of Mesa is proposing to
Greenfield Road and from Baseline Road to
Southern Avenue. The project will widen
Greenfield Road to six lanes (3 in each
direction). The project is proposed to
include raised landscaped medians, intersection
improvements at Baseline Road, new street
lights, traffic signals, and landscaping.
The source of funding for this project is from
the Regional Transportation Plan funds
(Proposition 400) and City of Mesa sales tax
revenue. Construction will begin in 2009.
