Money Magazine: 2006 Best Cities to Live, 3rd Best Big City
The City of Mesa, according to MONEY Magazine, ranked third in their survey of best big cities, surpassed only by Colorado Springs, Colo. and Austin, Texas. The survey researched several areas from quality of life to health, where Mesa scored above average in most categories, including education. Mesa was the only big city in Arizona to receive the honors.

#1 for Lowest Natural Disaster Risk
According to Risk Management Solutions and SustainLane, Mesa faces the lowest likelihood of a major natural disaster of any city in the nation.

Mesa Public Schools: 2005 Gold Medal School District
Expansion Management Magazine ranked Mesa Public Schools as a Gold Medal School District. Gold Medal designation means that Mesa Public Schools District ranks in the top 16% of school districts in the nation.

Mesa Rated Smartest Large City in the State
When it comes to brainpower, the City of Mesa ranks highest in the state, compared to other cities of its size, according to a new study by Bizjournals.com. Mesa came in 25th on the list of 53 large cities, beating both Tucson (27th) and Phoenix (36th).

Hot Cities for Small Business: Phoenix-Mesa ranks 1st
According to Entrepreneur Magazine, Phoenix-Mesa area boasts a larger percentage of business startups than any other city. Phoenix-Mesa small businesses reported faster growth than businesses in other areas. Adding to that, the Phoenix-Mesa area boasts a large number of organizations dedicated to assisting small businesses.

Top Large Metro Public Schools: 2nd Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale MSA
Among large metro areas with over 250,000 students, Expansion Management Magazine ranked the Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale MSA 2nd in the Nation. The magazine also gave the Phoenix-Mesa metro area a "5-star Public Schools" rating, meaning that the area's public schools are among the top 20% of all Metro Areas.
