On May 20, 2008 a General Election (Runoff) will be held for voters Citywide to elect a Mayor and for voters in District 5 to elect a Councilmember to fill the remainder of an unexpired term (until January 2011).

A Primary Election was held on March 11, 2008 and voters in Districts 1, 2 and 3 elected District Councilmembers whose terms will expire in January 2013. However, in accordance with the Mesa City Charter, since no candidate for Mayor or District 5 received a majority of all the valid ballots cast, a General Election (Runoff) will be held on May 20, 2008 for these two seats.
